32 Hours of Driving and a Whole Weekend of Fun

Sorry guys I have been MIA lately! This month has been going by so fast! I didn’t even have time to make or reach any monthly goals! It’s like woosh! Almost October! Anyway, this past weekend was fantastic! My brother and sister-in-law were having a baby shower in their home in Virginia Beach, and it was way past over-due to hang out with them! I hadn’t seen my sister-in-law since she became my brother’s wife, and I hadn’t hung out with my brother just because. Despite the 17 hours it took to drive down there, it was a super awesome experience! Even the drive was not that bad. I figured out how to travel successfully through city traffic and it was great bonding with the husband! I even ate fairly healthy during the trip even when grabbing a bite to eat at one of those rest areas did seem super tempting! I say that is a total success.

Now I don’t even know where to begin on my trip. All I can say is that it was fantastic and totally relaxing. It was really just what I needed right before my surgery which is coming up next week! Eeep!

The baby shower was adorable! I am going to be Auntie to a boy! Yee! I also got to help make the whole thing a lot less stressful which made me feel better about eating their food and stuff. They definitely deserved a little break and it was nice to see it go so smoothly except for the breeze, but that only really hurt the balloons. Ooops. I fell in love with the beach. I loved how it was still Summer down there and the ocean felt like bath water. I could have played in it all day.

I did eat a little crap… cookies, cupcakes, and yummy meat! But it was so worth it. I also had a few alcoholic drinks but nothing too over the top. The best part is I did not gain nor lose any weight. I was balanced. It felt awesome to just be in tune with my body but not being all crazy about calories. I was active every single day, ate when I was hungry, and just enjoyed myself. It made me realize that is exactly how I want to live my life. I really want to get away from the calorie counting and being worried about my weight. I went a whole entire weekend and didn’t gain an extreme amount of weight. It is such a freeing feeling. Has anyone else had this sort of experience? It was a nice experience.

So now on to some pictures!

This was us after 15+ hours of driving… In either Delaware or Virginia!

The tunnel that goes under the Chesapeake Bay! So cool!

The honey and me at the Beach! The weather was perfect!

Me and my brother! Look how normal I look next to him! I don’t look like the fat sister or anything!

The Happy Couple! =D Love them. They are so perfect together.

It’s a Boy! We got to guess and I guessed correctly! =D

I am so excited to be back to blogging and looking forward to catching up with everyone! I missed you guys… almost as much as I miss Virginia Beach! :p

  1. I’m heading off for 9 days in New Zealand this Sunday, and I am also worried about what a week away will do to my weight loss. I have heaps of active stuff planned, but it is still a worry. Thanks for your blog, it has inspired me to believe that holiday does not necessarily equal weight gain. Congrats on your looming “auntihood”! 🙂

    • You can do it! I feel if you stress about it, then you will end up sabotaging yourself. My challenge is just to listen to your body. Eat when you are hungry. Just enjoy everything around you! I was so busy living in the moment that I really wasn’t chowing down as often as I used to!
